What are non-statutory holidays? Within what period must I take my holiday leave?  <\/p>\n<p>Below are 10 facts about your holiday leave:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>You are entitled to a minimum of 4x the number of hours you work per week in holiday hours per year. These are the statutory holidays. You accrue these hours every hour or per month.  <\/li>\n<li>Non-statutory holidays are all days you have in addition to the statutory holidays. This is stated in your employment contract or collective labour agreement (CAO). <\/li>\n<li>You must take your statutory holidays within 1.5 years (payroll employee) or 2 years (temporary agency worker). You can also take your holiday leave in separate hours up to your contract hours. Your employer continues to pay your salary during your holiday.  <\/li>\n<li>You must take your non-statutory holidays within 5 years.<\/li>\n<li>You also accrue holiday leave with a zero-hours contract.<\/li>\n<li>You also accrue holiday leave during maternity and childbirth leave.<\/li>\n<li>You also accrue holiday leave during illness. When you go on holiday during illness, these days count as holiday leave. <\/li>\n<li>If you fall ill during your holiday, report this immediately to your employer. You will not lose the holiday leave days on which you are ill. They then count as sick days. In consultation with your employer, you can take these holiday hours at another time.   <\/li>\n<li>Statutory holidays may not be paid out in cash as long as the employment contract is in force.
