Received your holiday pay?

If you do not receive your holiday pay immediately with every salary payment from us, you will have recently received your accrued holiday pay savings. Have you already spent your holiday pay or are you still unsure what to do with it? Below, we have listed some tips for you.

Tip 1: Relax

As the opportunities to go on holiday are very limited for some people, we believe it is important that you, as an employee of GJ and our clients, allow yourself to rest. Happiness at work also stems from peace of mind. Boating, walking, cycling, exercising in nature, and maintaining social contacts; there are more low-budget options than you might think!

Tip 2: Build a financial buffer

Do you not yet know what you want to do with your holiday pay? Then this is the moment to start building a financial buffer. Should unexpected expenses ever come your way, you will be prepared. For this reason, NIBUD has a buffer calculator. Click on the link and calculate what NIBUD advises you to keep as a buffer.

Tip 3: Pay off debts

Outstanding debts do not make anyone feel good. Consider the possibilities of what your holiday pay could mean in saying goodbye to these debts. Also consider interest and other advantages and disadvantages of (extra) repayments. Fewer debts provide more peace of mind. On the other hand, “money in the bank” is also a nice feeling.

However, if you are subject to an attachment of earnings, please take a look at our website under the employee section. You are not alone, which is why we offer help within our network with the support of debt relief assistance/budget coaching.

Tip 4: An investment in yourself

Instead of completing everything on Netflix or Videoland, you can also invest your time in your personal development. Where does your interest lie? Search the internet to see if there is a suitable training course for you.

Did you know that every resident of the Netherlands from the age of 18 until state pension age is entitled to a government subsidy of €1,000? The STAP budget applies to every course listed in the STAP training register, allowing you to easily follow all kinds of relevant courses and/or short training sessions! Click the orange link quickly to see if there is something for you and how to apply for the STAP budget.

Tip 5: Just enjoy spending it!

Do you have broad shoulders, a job with a fair amount of security, or simply enough savings? Do you just want to enjoy spending it? Consider the local restaurant or that lovely clothing or shoe shop around the corner.

You could, of course, also put on your sunglasses and book a well-deserved trip abroad. Perhaps you have even thought about renting a nice cottage in a beautiful spot in the Netherlands? By doing so, you keep the Dutch economy going and can enjoy all the beauty that the Netherlands has to offer!
